I am running for San Mateo County Superintendent of Schools in June 2026 to continue serving on behalf of all families in San Mateo County as a champion for equitable educational opportunities for all students. To be eligible for this seat, which requires an Administrative Services Credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, I completed my M.A. in Educational Administration and Leadership in December 2024 and credentialing process is near completion.
As a member of the County Board of Education, I have been proud of our Board's efforts to ensure fiscal and programmatic accountability at the County Office of Education and to further initiatives that increase access to mental health and literacy supports and opportunities. Our team's focus on collaboration and joint governance is ongoing. Our work has resulted in putting a governance planning calendar in place, revising and formalizing an entirely new set of Board Policies, and approving a governance handbook reflecting our team's expectations, norms, and protocols, as a supplement to our official policies. Our Board has also taken steps to increase review of fiscal matters, to transparently address funding concerns, and to prioritize the continuation of our Gateway Community School as a countywide resource for our County's students who are furthest from opportunity.
My vision is for San Mateo County to be known for ensuring that all students learn to read in our schools, including students with dyslexia and other learning disabilities, no matter their grade level, as well as for ensuring that families and students with mental health challenges and diagnoses are supported in trauma-free, resource-embedded, and connected environments at every turn.
Together, we can ensure that all students in San Mateo County find success, and I would be honored to have your support to continue this essential work on behalf of students, families, and educators.
